ISO 9001 Foundation Course for Auditors

The ISO 9001 standard is a generic Quality Management System standard that is applicable to all organizations that value their customers and want to consistently fulfil their requirements. Understanding the requirements of the standard is essential for correct application by the developer, administrators and auditors. This course provides a detailed clause by clause analysis of the ISO 9001:2008 requirements, particularly in an audit setting. This course is particularly useful as a foundation for those who wish to be trained as auditors. It is also useful for staff in preparation for audits so that they know what auditors would want to see.

The web learning course is designed for individuals who want to learn at their own pace at the comfort of their own home or office. It is also suitable for organizations who would like their staff to learn within the vicinity of the workplace. The course is designed in a series of half-hour lessons that will require participants to follow a sequential structure with tests at the end of each session to gauge understanding. The course can be completed in 8 hours straight or over a period of time. We recommend not to exceed two weeks so that participants do not lose the learning momentum.

This course has been developed by IRCA lead auditors who have experience in various industries. Examples provided covers many sectors, including service and manufacturing sectors. This course will be valuable as preparation for students planning to complete other Quality Management Systems based training courses, such as the IRCA/2245 Quality Management Systems Auditor/Lead Auditor training course or the IRCA/2180 Internal QMS Auditor training course, and useful as an introduction for anyone involved in the development, implementation and management of an ISO 9001:2008 management system.

By the end of the course students will be able to:

  • Detail the requirements of the ISO 9001 standard, clause by clause
  • Explain the evidences to look for to determine conformity or nonconformity of each clause
  • Provide examples of conformity and nonconformity to the ISO 9001 requirements Course Structure

The course is divided into 13 sessions with a test at the end (except session 1). Passing requirement is 70% for each test. Participant who passes all the tests, will be awarded with an electronic Certificate of Achievement. To ease web access, each session is divided into a number of parts. Each session (i.e. all parts) is recommended to be completed within a continuous duration of 30 minutes. Recommended duration to complete this course is 8 hours.
